Description

  • Develop power electronics for large spacecraft with power systems ranging from 20 kW to 100 kW.
  • Serve as the responsible engineer for flight hardware from conception through flight.
  • Prototype high-power devices and refine designs through environmental and performance testing.
  • Qualify hardware for flight using vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Work with partners and customers to define interfaces between the power system and spacecraft loads.
  • Develop models to analyze and verify power system performance.
  • Design power conversion and power switching components that can operate in harsh space environments.
  • Contribute to future generations of spacecraft power system designs across multiple power domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional design experience with power electronics.
  • Research and extracurricular academic projects may count toward the required experience.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTspice is preferred.
  • Experience with environmental testing for space electronics, including thermal, vibration, TVAC, shock, radiation, and EMI/EMC testing, is preferred.
  • Experience with high-performance kW-scale isolated power converter design is preferred.
  • Experience with load switch design and power path protection schemes is preferred.
  • Experience with power stage component selection for radiation environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of filter design for stability, noise rejection, and surviving threat signals is preferred.
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Matlab is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license under ITAR.
