Description

  • Lead cradle-to-grave radiation test campaigns, including coordinating facilities and dates, designing electrical test setups, writing procedures, executing tests, and documenting results.
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble production-quality test racks, basic PCBAs, and cable harnesses.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify electronic components, assemblies, parts, and systems.
  • Perform tests and checkouts using lab equipment such as programmable power supplies, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs, logic analyzers, and DAQs.
  • Develop basic test automation, data collection, and analysis scripts in Python.
  • Own the scheduling and prioritization of component, board, and subsystem radiation testing across the hardware and vehicle lifecycle.
  • Flash firmware and perform software load verifications under the direction of engineering team members.
  • Build fixtures and tooling using hand, power, and pneumatic mechanical tools.
  • Support qualification, implementation, and reliability efforts for avionics hardware in intense radiation environments.
  • Provide detailed analysis and reporting of test results to inform hardware designers and mission planners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience assembling, integrating, and testing electrical components, assemblies, and/or hardware in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to set up and run common electrical measurements, including voltage, current, timing, and digital I/O.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, SMUs, function generators, or logic analyzers.
  • Demonstrated experience programming with Python to automate tests and analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability in soldering and crimping, including assembling cable harnesses and connectors.
  • Comfortable reading schematics, datasheets, and test procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to document work clearly and follow structured test processes.
  • 1+ years of experience in radiation effects testing, including TID, SEE, proton, heavy ion, gamma, or neutron testing, preferred.
  • Familiarity with radiation effects on semiconductor devices and mitigation of common failure modes, preferred.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing electrical assemblies, fixtures, and test racks, preferred.
  • Experience designing PCBs using common EDA tools such as Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD, preferred.
  • Experience developing modular, reusable test automation software and drivers in Linux, C++, Rust, Visual Studio, or similar tools, preferred.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the year to support radiation tests.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
