Description

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic oversight for structural, dynamic, and environmental testing on drones.
  • Lead complex test campaigns by defining scope, allocating resources, approving test plans, overseeing test operations, and reviewing data.
  • Plan and schedule short- and long-term testing projects aligned with product development milestones.
  • Review and approve test documentation and reports for accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal, client, and regulatory expectations.
  • Guide and evaluate team performance while supporting continuous improvement, technical excellence, and professional growth.
  • Manage team priorities, resource allocation, and project assignments to align with organizational objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal engineering and product teams on design for testability, reliability, and performance.
  • Build relationships with vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies to support clear communication and successful outcomes.
  • Guide test equipment design and fabrication for development testing programs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in hardware development or test engineering, including at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a safety-first culture in a demanding test environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles and their application to complex system validation.
  • Proficiency in at least one coding language such as Python, Matlab, or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control components such as accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, strain gauges, and RTDs.
  • Familiarity with industry test standards and guidance, including MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and NASA GEVS.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Deep understanding of drone architectures, avionics, flight control systems, propulsion, navigation, communications, and payload integration (preferred).
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources for engineering projects (preferred).
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and PLM tools such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter (preferred).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth R&D environment (preferred).
  • Experience developing novel solutions to complex testing issues and advancing test capabilities (preferred).
