Description

  • Lead system sizing, arrangement, electrical modeling, and balance-of-system design for standalone and hybrid energy storage projects.
  • Ensure storage systems meet contractual offtake requirements and financial model assumptions over the life of the asset.
  • Optimize energy storage designs to achieve the lowest possible LCOE/LCOS while maintaining constructability and reliability.
  • Guide cross-functional design efforts with Development, Land, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and Construction teams.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities early and quantify their impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the technical lead for energy storage PPA negotiations and commercial strategy.
  • Support EPC RFP processes, commercial supply agreements, and Independent Engineer diligence.
  • Lead equipment and technology selection, including evaluation of lithium-ion and alternative storage technologies.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, design standards, EPC exhibits, vendor requirements, and testing protocols.
  • Build or enhance internal engineering tools and software for fast, accurate performance modeling.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience leading technical scope for utility-scale PV and/or battery storage projects across development, design, contracting, and construction.
  • Deep technical expertise in lithium-ion battery systems, including chemistries, architecture, optimization levers, cost drivers, lifecycle considerations, and construction challenges.
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale power conversion systems, transformers, skidded inverters, and battery technologies; PV engineering experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC, UL9540A, and UL1741.
  • Experience supporting Independent Engineer diligence and working with project finance stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation tools such as VBA, Matlab, Python, or similar.
  • Commercial mindset with a strong focus on LCOE/LCOS optimization and risk quantification.
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional, fast-paced growth environment and strong project management skills.
  • Familiarity with alternative storage technologies, power plant controls architecture, and SCADA is a plus.

  • Total compensation of $220,000 to $260,000, including base salary and bonus.
