Description

  • Design and implement the multi-agent architecture that manages core interactive loops, global system state aggregation, and agent orchestration.
  • Build and manage logic for complex multi-agent workflows, including user onboarding/profile generation, dynamic scenario creation, and real-time interactive simulation loops.
  • Architect and own state management for LLMs to prevent context rot, govern agent knowledge scopes, and maximize token caching while minimizing latency.
  • Author, test, and version-control robust system instructions for standalone LLMs and multi-agent workflows.
  • Design, implement, and own an evals framework and CI/CD-style testing loops to programmatically score prompt performance and end-to-end agent lifecycles.
  • Collaborate with backend and frontend teams to integrate AI outputs into the UI and ensure smooth data flow from models to clients.
  • Design and implement moderation and security pipelines to filter harmful/offensive inputs and mitigate prompt injection and undesired LLM outputs.
  • Serve as the team authority on LLM interaction patterns to ensure agents are fast, reliable, and strictly scoped to their domains.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-backed applications in production.
  • Strong traditional software engineering foundation and ability to write production-grade code (do not rely solely on AI coding assistants).
  • Proficiency in Python and strong proficiency in TypeScript; familiarity with modern reactive frontend frameworks (preferably Angular v21).
  • Hands-on experience with agent/agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, Claude Agent SDK, Google ADK) with strong preference for Google ADK experience.
  • Proven experience optimizing token usage, caching, prompt and context engineering to reduce latency and fetch minimal necessary context.
  • Experience designing and employing guardrails, moderation, and risk-mitigation strategies to prevent prompt injection and unsafe LLM outputs.
  • Experience designing and owning evals/infrastructure for automated testing and iteration of model behavior.
  • Availability for a part-time contract (20 hrs/week) from 4/13–5/29 with a strong likelihood of extension to full-time through October.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, agent orchestration harnesses, AI evals, and AI security/guardrails (preferred).

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range $61–$78/hr for US 3 locations (W-2 temporary engagement) with regional pay bands: US 2 = +7.5% and US 1 = +15% relative to US 3.
  • Part-time remote contract (20 hrs/week) from 4/13–5/29 with a strong likelihood of extension to full-time through October.
  • Work as part of Instrument’s freelance network and collaborate with their product teams and high-profile clients (e.g., Google, Nike, Uber, ŌURA, Eventbrite).
  • Opportunity to shape greenfield, stateful, multi-agent generative-AI systems and help define emerging best practices in this space.
