Description

  • Lead planning and technical execution of large engineering programs with high ambiguity, complexity, and visibility.
  • Work with Engineering, Product Management, Data Science, Design, Business Development, and other partners to define project objectives and success criteria.
  • Drive requirements definition, execution planning, and overall program progress and outcomes.
  • Own stakeholder communication and keep priorities, risks, and changes clearly aligned across teams.
  • Foster a collaborative program environment with strong teamwork, shared goals, and efficient processes.
  • Contribute to organization-wide initiatives that improve Instacart’s broader success.
  • Uphold and improve the operational excellence framework for retailer launches.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies and help deliver high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Make scope and technical trade-off decisions and build executive-level narratives.
  • Operate independently and proactively across teams to push programs forward.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of post-graduation work experience in a technology field.
  • Preferred background as a technical program manager, project manager, product manager, software engineer, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience creating functional specifications and setting program structure.
  • Experience influencing program strategy and managing complex multi-organization programs end-to-end.
  • Experience leading programs through the software development lifecycle from definition to launch.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill information and build stakeholder narratives.
  • Strong ownership, intellectual curiosity, and ability to identify and prevent execution or technical issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build trust with senior Engineering and Product leaders.
  • Growth mindset and receptiveness to actionable feedback and development opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology or engineering discipline.
  • Master’s degree in a technology or engineering discipline (preferred).
  • Experience demonstrating deep technical domain knowledge and acting as a strong technical voice (preferred).
  • Experience driving architectural and strategic decisions at the leadership level (preferred).
  • Experience creating innovative program management processes, tools, or approaches (preferred).
  • Experience working with e-commerce solutions at scale (preferred).

  • Highly market-competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Base salary range of $214,000-$226,000 USD in CA, NY, CT, and NJ.
  • Base salary range of $205,000-$216,000 USD in WA.
  • Base salary range of $196,000-$207,000 USD in OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, and HI.
  • Base salary range of $178,000-$188,000 USD in all other states.
  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
