Description

  • Grow, develop, manage, and lead a multidisciplinary team of software and systems engineers focused on privacy.
  • Advise executive and senior technical and business leadership on Instacart’s privacy vision through written and in-person communication.
  • Lead partnerships with infrastructure and application teams to ensure products are built and delivered with security and privacy in mind.
  • Implement policies and procedures that protect customer and partner data.
  • Develop metrics and reports on top privacy and security risks and the health of the organization.
  • Own projects that improve privacy capabilities across access requests, deletion processing, and sensitive data handling.
  • Support privacy-by-design tooling, shared controls, and data lifecycle management technologies used by product teams.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, operations, and engineering partners to enforce privacy controls across the stack.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of work experience in privacy engineering delivering holistic privacy solutions and building privacy into products.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience directly managing an organization of 5+ senior-level individual contributors.
  • Proven ability to recruit, hire, upskill, lead, and scale teams.
  • Experience handling performance management and customer negotiations while driving privacy-centric decisions with partners.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate cost/benefit trade-offs of privacy initiatives in the context of business risk and operational objectives.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related science/engineering field.
  • Working experience with privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Real-world experience implementing privacy, trust, or security measures that shipped in a consumer product or service.

  • Base salary range in the US from $221,000 to $279,000 depending on location.
