Description

  • Lead the Service Platform team responsible for Instacart’s core deployment and release engineering systems, including canary infrastructure and end-to-end deployment tooling.
  • Set the vision and drive execution for internal developer tools that support safe, fast, and reliable service delivery.
  • Partner with product, infrastructure, and service teams to define and evolve the deployment platform.
  • Own and improve the deployment pipeline, canary systems, and related reliability tooling end to end.
  • Balance priorities across multiple stakeholders while keeping customer needs first.
  • Guide the team through ambiguous and technically complex infrastructure problems.
  • Maintain a strong incident triaging mindset and lead by example during critical issues.
  • Ensure Instacart engineers have intuitive, scalable, and resilient tools to deploy, validate, and monitor services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of people management experience with deep involvement in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • 7+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
  • Proven track record of launching and shipping high-impact products, especially internal developer-facing products.
  • Strong proficiency in maintaining high standards for production services.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to contextualize problems for different audiences.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and engaging the right stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Experience building and shipping products to users (preferred).
  • Experience building platforms and high-scale infrastructure (preferred).
  • Visionary thinking and the ability to generate transformative ideas (preferred).

  • Base salary range of $196,000–$207,000 USD for Canadian candidates.
