Description

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data scientists, including setting priorities and developing career paths.
  • Define and own the analytics and experimentation strategy across storefront, browse, search, cart, checkout, order status, Family, Lists, and Meals/Health.
  • Own core shopping metrics, event logging, data quality, and reusable dashboards and tools to support timely decision-making.
  • Drive deep-dive analyses to identify friction in shopping funnels and partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize and ship improvements.
  • Work with Product and Engineering leadership to shape roadmaps, align on tradeoffs, and ensure goals are measurable and achievable.
  • Set the standard for experiment design and readouts, including hypothesis formation, sampling, power analysis, metric selection, and result storytelling.
  • Collaborate with ML teams on ranking, recommendations, personalization, and offline/online evaluation.
  • Improve cross-functional rituals such as experiment reviews and prioritization forums to increase speed, rigor, and learning.
  • Ensure AI and agentic features are grounded in robust measurement frameworks with clear success definitions and long-term impact metrics.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data science or analytics, including 2+ years managing or tech-leading a data science team.
  • Proven experience optimizing consumer app experiences at scale, such as funnels, ranking, personalization, or experimentation.
  • Hands-on expertise in experimentation and measurement, including A/B testing, guardrails, metrics design, and logging instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with proficiency in SQL and Python or R.
  • Experience translating ambiguous customer and retailer problems into metrics, analyses, and experiment roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations, including influencing without formal authority.
  • Track record of improving instrumentation, building reusable dashboards or tools, and championing data quality.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills for explaining complex tradeoffs and experiment results to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, or consumer mobile apps, especially grocery, retail, or multi-retailer environments, preferred.
  • Background in ranking, recommendation, or personalization systems and their evaluation, preferred.
  • Experience scaling experimentation programs, including governance, tiering, or experiment review forums, preferred.
  • Experience partnering with ML teams on production models and evaluation strategies, preferred.
  • Experience operating in a matrixed organization and influencing director- and VP-level stakeholders, preferred.
  • Familiarity with GenAI and AI-assisted workflows, preferred.

  • Base pay range for Canadian candidates: $192,000 to $202,500 CAD.
