Description

  • Serve as project leader for new product development projects from initiation through production implementation.
  • Execute new product introduction engineering work for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with senior and lead engineers to write engineering specifications and develop concept drawings with sales and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with nationally recognized testing laboratories to define product evaluation and certification scope.
  • Create detailed design drawings, 3D models, and bills of material for prototype equipment and test articles.
  • Develop test plans and support product testing against applicable standards and certification requirements.
  • Support in-house and third-party laboratory testing, evaluate results, and revise designs based on empirical data.
  • Characterize electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance through testing, simulation, and analytical methods.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to incorporate design for manufacturability concepts throughout development.
  • Conduct failure analyses of existing products and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing low- and/or medium-voltage power distribution equipment or related products.
  • BSME or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with NRTL evaluation, testing, and certification processes such as UL or CSA.
  • Experience with common electrical equipment standards such as UL 891, UL 1558, UL 508A, and IEEE C37.20.
  • Design experience using SolidWorks to produce 3D models is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical capability and solid grasp of three-phase electric power concepts, power distribution systems, and power control/protection strategies preferred.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to support testing and product development tasks in person.
