Description

  • Determine PCB layer stackups, component package selection, placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing across digital, analog, RF, and power conversion designs.
  • Create, maintain, and manage PCB libraries.
  • Create and release fabrication documentation for printed circuit boards.
  • Collaborate with hardware development engineers during schematic and design reviews to improve layouts.
  • Work with internal teams and PCB vendors to improve design rules, constraints, and design-for-test/manufacture guidelines.
  • Use PCB design tools, evaluate new tools, and train team members on tool usage.
  • Contribute to a range of designs including radio phased arrays, solar power converters, and other board types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years of professional PCB layout experience, or 8+ years of PCB layout experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Internships and club/project work may count toward experience requirements.
  • 8+ years of experience with PCB layout and routing in areas such as surface-mount, RF components, ball-grid array, fine-pitch, or high pin density components (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience with ECAD libraries and library configuration management (preferred).
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test (preferred).
  • Experience with Mentor Xpedition and/or Altium Designer; Mentor Xpedition preferred (preferred).
  • Experience with mixed analog/digital layouts, high-speed buses, FPGA, DRAM, CPU, power supplies, DC-DC converters, transmission lines, impedance-controlled traces, and power traces (preferred).
  • Experience with MIL-STD, commercial, and IPC standards (preferred).
  • Experience monitoring industry-wide parts (preferred).
  • Ability to visualize component placement and interconnectivity (preferred).
  • Experience with scripting and automation (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others (preferred).
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines.
  • Must meet ITAR export control eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorization.
