Description

  • Lead the mechanical engineering design team supporting medium-voltage design in Jacksonville.
  • Partner with the Maintenance of Line team to ensure designs meet IEM standards and policies.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows, mentoring, training, and succession planning for the team.
  • Standardize the design process across multiple locations to reduce cycle time while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ensure designs comply with UL, IEEE, ANSI, and C37.20 standards.
  • Optimize CAD-driven design-to-order workflows so designs are ready for fabrication with minimal revisions.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality custom medium-voltage product designs, including switchgear from 5kV to 38kV.
  • Manage multiple projects at once and ensure designs are finalized and delivered to production on schedule.
  • Work with sales, planning, production, and quality control teams to translate requirements, resolve issues, and support handoff from design to fabrication.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying bottlenecks and improving design speed, efficiency, and product performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in medium-voltage design and a strong understanding of UL and IEEE standards.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership of cross-functional programs or teams.
  • Demonstrated experience owning operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting for an engineering or manufacturing function.
  • Background in driving cross-functional process improvement, standardization, or governance initiatives.
  • Experience with FEA tools and simulation-based design optimization.
  • Expertise in medium-voltage mechanical design, particularly custom switchgear and bus bars for Commercial and Industrial applications.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • In-depth knowledge of UL, IEEE, and ANSI standards related to medium-voltage switchgear.
  • Proven experience leading design teams in a fast-paced, design-to-order environment.
