Description

  • Own commercial contracting end to end, including drafting, negotiating, structuring, and advising on customer contracts, partnerships, vendor and SaaS agreements, and NDAs.
  • Serve as the primary trusted advisor to the business by providing clear, practical legal guidance that helps deals close efficiently.
  • Identify when issues extend beyond commercial law and coordinate with the appropriate subject-matter experts while continuing to drive transactions forward.
  • Lead the strategy to make the legal function more scalable, including CLM implementation, AI adoption, and the development of templates, playbooks, and self-service tools.
  • Partner with Product Counsel on the commercial aspects of new products and features and help build foundational terms of use and related documentation.
  • Take on corporate, governance, and other projects as needed across the legal team.
  • Support a Contracts Manager who handles high-volume and routine agreements.
  • Translate legal and risk issues into actionable business guidance for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of legal experience, including substantial in-house experience at a high-growth, fast-paced company.
  • Strong commercial contracting background, including drafting and negotiating a broad range of B2B and SaaS agreements.
  • Experience advising non-legal business teams in real time and converting legal conclusions into practical guidance.
  • Deep contracting expertise, especially in IP and technology licensing, SaaS terms, and data rights.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law in any state, including registered in-house status.
  • Experience in fintech or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Experience at a large, sophisticated startup or technology company with strong legal practices is preferred.
  • Comfort and fluency with AI tools in day-to-day legal work is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and scale legal processes in a rapidly changing business.

  • Base salary range of $190,000 to $215,000 annually.
