Description

  • Develop and improve support for vision and multi-modal models and datasets within open-source libraries (e.g., Transformers, Datasets).
  • Design, implement, and maintain a production-ready computer-vision tool stack and libraries that are simple and intuitive for users.
  • Optimize models for production use, including improving inference efficiency and enabling large-scale deployments.
  • Build, train, and fine-tune computer-vision and multimodal models and help productionize them (serving, performance tuning, and scalability).
  • Contribute to and maintain upstream open-source CV projects and Hugging Face repositories; review PRs and manage releases.
  • Mentor and guide junior contributors, participate in code reviews, and help grow the contributor community.
  • Engage directly with researchers, ML practitioners, and data scientists via GitHub, forums, and Slack to support users and foster community contributions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with research and product teams to define feature specs, iterate on implementations, and ensure usability and robustness.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in computer vision (e.g., object detection, segmentation, generative models, or multimodal systems).
  • Strong open-source presence with significant contributions to CV libraries such as OpenCV, Detectron2, MMDetection, or Hugging Face transformers/diffusers, ideally as a core contributor or maintainer.
  • Experience working with Transformers and Datasets libraries and contributing to open-source ML tooling.
  • Proven experience building, training, and optimizing models in PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
  • Experience serving models in production and deploying at scale or improving inference efficiency.
  • Experience reviewing PRs, mentoring other engineers, and growing open-source communities.
  • Comfortable interacting with users and contributors through GitHub, forums, and Slack.
