Description

  • Act as the technical leader and architect for backend systems powering advanced marketing capabilities.
  • Design and evolve scalable, resilient architectures that integrate with marketing, machine learning, and data systems.
  • Stay deeply hands-on in code, code reviews, and technical design while maintaining a high bar for quality and execution.
  • Lead and mentor 2-4 backend engineers through ambiguous problem spaces and complex technical decisions.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Data, ML, Infrastructure, and cross-group teams to deliver cohesive customer-centric experiences.
  • Drive alignment across teams and systems by identifying leverage points that unlock outsized impact.
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health and technical strategy.
  • Help engineers break down complex problems into clear, actionable solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong track record of delivering high-impact, cross-team technical initiatives at scale.
  • Comfort working in high-ambiguity domains where product, data, and marketing technologies intersect.
  • Ability to understand complex system landscapes and distill them into simple, scalable architectures.
  • Experience staying deeply hands-on while also providing technical direction and mentorship beyond your immediate team.
  • Pragmatic decision-making with a bias toward solving problems through technology rather than process.
  • Ability to raise the bar for technical excellence and help others do the same.
  • Experience with technologies such as Java, Kafka, Iceberg, Spark, distributed data stores, and service-oriented architectures (experience, not expertise).
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and willingness to learn and apply new technologies to complex problems.
  • Alignment with HubSpot’s engineering values and customer-first mindset.

Benefits

  • Annual cash compensation range of $237,600 to $380,200 USD.
  • May include on-target commission for eligible roles.
  • May include annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles.
  • Some roles are eligible for equity participation through restricted stock units (RSUs).
  • Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
  • Compensation is tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

  • Remote and office-based flexibility, with in-person onboarding required for Engineering roles.
