Description

  • Define the technical direction for applied ML and AI systems across product surfaces and teams.
  • Build systems that help HubSpot’s AI understand customer, company, activity, and workflow data across the CRM platform.
  • Lead ambiguous 0-to-1 initiatives from model development and evaluation through productionization and experimentation.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, data, and ML teams to deliver measurable customer and business impact.
  • Provide architectural leadership and strategic direction for major ML and AI projects.
  • Mentor, coach, and teach engineers, including senior individual contributors, through complex technical work.
  • Make pragmatic decisions about when to use ML, LLMs, retrieval, rules, platform changes, or product changes.
  • Design and build reliable, scalable systems for data processing, feature generation, context retrieval, training, inference, monitoring, and feedback loops.
  • Evaluate solutions across offline and online metrics as well as privacy, bias, security, reliability, cost, maintainability, model quality, and data governance.
  • Turn messy, incomplete, or heterogeneous data into useful AI context for customer-facing products.

Requirements

  • Long track record of delivering high-value, high-impact, cross-team and cross-product projects.
  • Experience staying hands-on in technical design, model development, production systems, and code while leading by example.
  • History of solving ambiguous problems with outsized impact on customer experience, product strategy, or business goals.
  • Expert understanding of ML techniques including deep learning, optimization, regression, transformers, large language models, transfer learning, retrieval, ranking, recommendations, classification, NLP, and personalization.
  • Experience with tools and frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and modern model-serving and evaluation systems.
  • Expertise in crafting ML and AI architecture from business requirements and identifying adjacent opportunities for ML solutions.
  • Ability to assess privacy, bias, security, reliability, cost, maintainability, model quality, and data governance across the ML lifecycle.
  • Deep knowledge of applied and predictive AI topics such as recommendation algorithms, binary and multiclass classification, ranking and relevance, semantic retrieval, embeddings, entity understanding, and experimentation.
  • Experience working with customer, company, activity, workflow, conversation, behavioral, CRM, or unstructured document data.
  • Embodiment of HubSpot’s engineering team values.

Benefits

  • Annual cash compensation range of $285,800 to $457,300 USD.
  • Cash compensation may include base salary, on-target commission for eligible roles, and annual bonus targets.
  • Some roles are eligible for participation in HubSpot’s equity plan with restricted stock units (RSUs).
  • Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
  • Benefits and perks are included as part of the total compensation package.
  • Flexible work setup with support for both remote employees and office-based employees.
  • Required in-person onboarding at a regional HubSpot office for Engineering roles, with additional in-person team gatherings for Product roles.
