Description

  • Build and maintain backend features, including APIs, background jobs, and integrations.
  • Improve and maintain the data pipeline to keep affiliate data accurate and up to date.
  • Write PostgreSQL and BigQuery queries and reports for clicks, conversions, commissions, and payouts.
  • Build internal dashboards and business reports such as payout summaries, revenue attribution, and cohort breakdowns.
  • Investigate and fix performance issues, including slow queries, bottlenecks, and slow background jobs.
  • Work asynchronously with a small team and take ownership from implementation through monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO and product team to ship features quickly.
  • Provide technical support by running scripts, debugging client-specific issues, and investigating data discrepancies for the CX team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, or strong Python/TypeScript skills with willingness to learn the stack.
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries and optimizing slow queries.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL and BigQuery in production environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and background job systems such as Sidekiq or Celery.
  • Experience building internal tooling and dashboards for revenue, payout, or cohort reporting.
  • Async-first, high-ownership working style with strong written communication and independent decision-making.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
  • Data or analytics engineering experience is a meaningful plus.
  • Familiarity with dbt or a strong desire to learn it quickly is preferred.
