Description

  • Design and develop backend systems and APIs in Node.js for the Horizons platform.
  • Own backend features and services, including making architectural decisions with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Optimize API performance, database performance, and overall system scalability.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and implement data storage solutions.
  • Write tested, documented, and scalable code that delivers business value.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers to ship features.
  • Learn from and apply mentoring on system design, backend best practices, and performance optimization.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL or MySQL in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and experience building them.
  • Experience with message queues such as RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or GCP PubSub.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana or similar solutions.
  • Experience with unit testing and integration testing using Jest, Mocha, or similar tools.
  • Comfortable with SQL and at least one ORM such as Sequelize, TypeORM, or Prisma, plus Redis.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
  • Self-starter mindset with ownership and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills for documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Microservices architecture exposure is preferred.
  • Performance monitoring and optimization experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Experience with AI tools and LLM providers is a significant plus.
  • Terraform experience is preferred.
