Description

  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory, COGS, and stock valuation reporting, ensuring accurate reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Prepare complex journal entries, including standard cost adjustments, SLOB provisions, and PPV analysis.
  • Reconcile physical inventory, sub-ledgers, warehouse management systems, and ERP financial modules, resolving discrepancies at source.
  • Oversee cycle counting programmes and coordinate annual physical inventory counts with warehouse teams and external auditors.
  • Manage the end-to-end costing process, investigate cost variances, and recommend adjustments to protect margins.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes and resolve inventory cut-off issues before reporting deadlines.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors on inventory and costing matters and prepare audit working papers.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement internal controls over inventory management to reduce risk and improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
  • Experience applying accounting expertise in manufacturing, retail, or distribution environments.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining inventory accounting processes end to end, including SLOB provisioning, PPV analysis, standard cost adjustments, and multi-location reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP, including IAS 2 inventory valuation requirements.
  • Experience with advanced ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Advanced Excel skills for manipulating and interrogating large data sets.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial findings clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and time-sensitive close cycles while maintaining accuracy and rigor.
  • Experience participating in ERP migrations, system upgrades, or implementation of specialized inventory or reconciliation modules is preferred.
  • Familiarity with RPA tools or basic scripting such as VBA or Python is preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment with FX accounting and intercompany transactions is preferred.
  • Track record of identifying workflow inefficiencies and driving process-improvement initiatives is preferred.
