Description

  • Own the capitalisation process by reviewing project spend and classifying costs between CAPEX and OPEX in line with IAS 16 and IAS 38.
  • Prepare fixed asset general ledger entries, including depreciation, additions, transfers, disposals, and write-offs, and maintain accuracy in the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Reconcile the Fixed Asset Register to the general ledger each month and resolve variances at source.
  • Monitor Construction in Progress accounts and work with project managers to capitalise completed projects on time and in compliance.
  • Own month-end and year-end close activities for fixed assets and produce CAPEX variance reporting against budget and forecast.
  • Coordinate annual impairment reviews and physical verification audits across business sites and ensure findings are documented and actioned.
  • Act as the main contact for external auditors on CAPEX and fixed asset matters and provide audit support and technical accounting explanations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain controls and policies for capital spend and asset tracking.
  • Partner with project managers and department heads on capitalisation decisions and reporting.
  • Support accurate balance sheet reporting for major capital investments across multiple entities.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a complex, multi-entity environment with high-volume CAPEX and detailed fixed asset registers.
  • End-to-end fixed asset accounting experience, including CIP monitoring, depreciation scheduling, impairment reviews, and asset disposal accounting.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP, especially IAS 16 and IAS 38.
  • Experience using fixed asset modules in ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or Oracle.
  • Advanced Excel capability for managing, analysing, and presenting complex asset data.
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting positions clearly and credibly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing close and audit deadlines while delivering accurate outputs across multiple workstreams.
  • Experience participating in ERP migrations, system upgrades, or implementation of specialised modules is preferred.
  • Familiarity with RPA tools or basic scripting such as VBA or Python is preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment with FX accounting and intercompany transactions is preferred.
  • Experience identifying workflow inefficiencies and driving process improvements is preferred.
