Description

  • Define the long-term technical vision for the cloud platform and advise leadership on architectural strategy, investment priorities, and systemic risk.
  • Set organizational standards for cloud reliability, observability, and operational excellence, including SLO/SLI frameworks and incident management practices.
  • Serve as the senior solutions engineering authority for partner teams by translating cross-functional requirements into platform strategy.
  • Own the developer experience roadmap and close systemic gaps in self-service infrastructure, CI/CD workflows, and operational visibility.
  • Proactively surface risks in AWS infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code practices, and delivery pipelines before they become incidents.
  • Translate complex infrastructure risk and platform strategy into clear narratives for Director-level and executive stakeholders.
  • Mentor Staff and Senior engineers while modeling engineering rigor, documentation, and cross-functional accountability.
  • Drive organizational action and prioritization across teams without formal authority.
  • Help shape CI/CD governance models and delivery philosophy at an organizational level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of cloud platform or infrastructure engineering experience with demonstrated org-level technical impact.
  • Expert AWS knowledge across compute, networking, data, and security services including EC2, ECS, Lambda, VPCs, Transit Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, RDS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, and Systems Manager.
  • Deep expertise in cloud reliability and operational excellence, including SLO/SLI design, centralized observability, alerting strategy, and incident lifecycle management at production scale.
  • Expert-level Terraform and infrastructure-as-code leadership, including organizational module strategy, policy-as-code, and self-service provisioning standards.
  • Experience partnering across teams to identify needs, set priorities, and deliver platform capabilities that reduce toil and improve engineering velocity.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk and strategy for Director and VP audiences.
  • Track record of mentoring Staff and Senior engineers and establishing org-wide engineering standards.
  • Ability to translate business goals and organizational risk into multi-year platform roadmaps.
  • Experience setting CI/CD governance models and delivery philosophy at an organizational level, rather than owning pipeline implementation directly.
  • Experience with healthcare is preferred.
  • Must permanently reside in the US full-time.
  • Experience working in a role with high-stakes architectural decision-making.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $162,000–$225,000, plus equity and benefits.
  • Separate salary range available for candidates based in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle.
