Description

  • Build and maintain k6, a performance testing tool written in Go, across the codebase and open-source project.
  • Develop features and improvements from initial idea through implementation and delivery.
  • Work through ambiguous problems by evaluating context, trade-offs, and pragmatic technical approaches.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on design, implementation, and code reviews while working with a high degree of independence.
  • Deliver production-quality code and maintain existing functionality to keep the system reliable and maintainable.
  • Contribute to Go services that support distributed execution in the k6 cloud offering.
  • Own the product end to end, including architecture, releases, user-facing behavior, and open-source project health.
  • Participate in an async-first workflow using pull requests, short design notes, and regular six-week releases.
  • Use AI coding assistants pragmatically for prototyping, testing, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-up within security guidelines.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building production software in Go, or another language with good support for concurrency and parallelism.
  • Experience working on larger or long-lived codebases.
  • Ability to work independently on scoped problems and deliver them to completion.
  • Clear technical communication skills, especially in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Good understanding of internet protocols such as HTTP, gRPC, and WebSockets, with some familiarity with lower-level networking concepts.
  • Experience with modern development practices, including testing, code review, and iterative development.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects (preferred).
  • Prior experience using k6 in production, or contributing to the k6 project or ecosystem (preferred).
  • Experience with performance, reliability, or network testing and optimization (preferred).
  • Familiarity with distributed systems or cloud-based services (preferred).
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript (preferred).
  • Experience with backend systems for web or mobile applications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Docker, AWS, microservices architectures, and observability tools such as Grafana or APM systems (preferred).
  • Remote applicants should be based in Sweden time zones.
