Description

  • Design, implement, and maintain features and improvements across the k6 codebase from concept through delivery.
  • Write production-quality Go services and libraries, ensuring performance, correctness, and long-term maintainability.
  • Work on the k6 Cloud offering to support distributed test execution across data centers, paying careful attention to performance and failure modes.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on design, implementation, and code reviews, providing clear technical communication and feedback.
  • Own product areas end-to-end, including architecture, releases, user-facing behavior, and the health of the open-source project.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence to understand constraints, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver scoped problems to completion.
  • Participate in an asynchronous workflow by capturing decisions in pull requests and short design notes and using meetings for alignment.
  • Maintain existing functionality, keep systems reliable and maintainable over time, and focus on small, safe, incremental changes between releases.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building production software in Go, or another language with good support for concurrency and parallelism.
  • Experience working on larger or long-lived codebases and maintaining reliable systems over time.
  • Ability to work independently on scoped problems and deliver them to completion.
  • Clear technical communication skills, especially in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Good understanding of internet protocols such as HTTP, gRPC, and WebSockets, with familiarity with lower-level networking concepts.
  • Experience with modern development practices including testing, code review, and iterative development.
  • Familiarity with contributing to or maintaining open-source projects (preferred).
  • Prior experience using k6 in production or contributing to the k6 project or ecosystem (preferred).
  • Experience with performance, reliability, or network testing and optimization, and with distributed systems or cloud-based services (preferred).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Docker, AWS, microservices architectures, and observability tools such as Grafana or APM systems (preferred).

  • Germany base salary range EUR 97,034 – EUR 116,441 (actual compensation varies by location, level, and experience).
  • All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) to provide ownership in Grafana Labs.
