Description

  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems for Grafana Alerting, owning their reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Build distributed systems to scale alert ingestion, delivery, and evaluation for Prometheus-based and Grafana-managed alerts.
  • Unify alerting setup and delivery so alerts work consistently across Grafana and Prometheus-based systems.
  • Drive projects end-to-end from ideation and requirements gathering through implementation, deployment, and operational ownership.
  • Deliver new features with the team, iterate based on results and customer feedback, and continuously improve systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run in production.
  • Contribute to the Grafana open-source codebase and collaborate across teams, including Grafana Cloud and customers, to solve real-world observability problems.
  • Mentor and support teammates, participate in design discussions, and influence the squad roadmap and your own career objectives.

Requirements

  • Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively in a fully remote team.
  • Solid experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Grafana uses Go; familiarity with Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar is transferable).
  • Experience delivering projects end-to-end, from gathering requirements and brainstorming to shipping and operating products.
  • Some experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience in systems engineering.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and take operational ownership of services.
  • Pragmatic approach to solving complex problems: design modular solutions, deliver MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate.
