Description

  • Deliver installation, migration, training, and advisory Professional Services engagements.
  • Plan and execute deployments from single-node Omnibus installations to large IaC- and configuration-as-code-based reference architectures.
  • Lead migrations from other systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.
  • Advise customers on practical implementation plans that improve reliability, security, and workflows.
  • Manage multiple customer engagements as a primary engineer or technical lead.
  • Partner with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to improve delivery consistency and processes.
  • Collaborate with GitLab product and engineering teams to resolve customer issues and share product feedback.
  • Mentor Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers and help remove technical blockers.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with infrastructure or configuration as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Professional experience with at least two cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, or using GitLab, with a solid understanding of Git and source control workflows.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing installation, migration, training, or advisory services.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and lead engineers on complex engagements.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Solution-oriented problem-solving skills, including identifying root causes, evaluating tradeoffs, and driving issues to resolution.
  • Experience working effectively in a fully remote, largely asynchronous, cross-time-zone environment.
  • Located in Japan with full working rights in Japan.
