Description

  • Identify bottlenecks, manual work, and automation opportunities across quote-to-cash, revenue recognition, deferred commissions, and the financial close process.
  • Develop standardized policies, procedures, and playbooks for consistent revenue and deferred commissions accounting execution.
  • Drive adoption of new workflows and tools across the revenue team and embed improvements into day-to-day operations.
  • Evaluate new products, services, and pricing models for revenue recognition implications under ASC 606.
  • Collaborate with Product, Deal Desk, Legal, and Financial Planning and Analysis on offering design and go-to-market planning.
  • Partner with external auditors to align on technical accounting conclusions and maintain documentation for new accounting positions.
  • Enhance system integrations, data quality, and reporting across ERP, CRM, revenue, and commissions systems.
  • Support scalable processes that improve accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.
  • Help the revenue accounting function operate with greater consistency and efficiency through workflow improvement and team enablement.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in revenue recognition and deferred commissions accounting in a technology, SaaS, subscription, or consumption-based business environment.
  • Experience applying Accounting Standards Codification 606 and Accounting Standards Codification 340.
  • Experience improving processes and implementing automation across revenue accounting or quote-to-cash workflows.
  • Ability to assess new offerings and pricing models and translate technical accounting guidance into practical recommendations.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Finance, Information Technology, Sales Operations, Legal, Product, and planning teams in a distributed environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-informed approach to reconciliation, reporting quality, and process design.
  • Ability to document, train, and enable others through clear communication and subject matter expertise.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 controls and audit-ready practices related to revenue recognition and deferred commissions accounting.
  • Experience working with enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, revenue, and commissions systems is preferred.
