Description

  • Own the reliability, performance, and security of Garner’s AWS cloud infrastructure, including platform uptime, incident response, and operational excellence.
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for the cloud infrastructure squad across Kubernetes, Terraform, Istio, Postgres, NATS, and observability tooling.
  • Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing team of infrastructure engineers.
  • Set clear expectations, provide rigorous feedback, and hold the team accountable to high standards.
  • Partner with product engineering, data engineering, and security teams to enable fast, safe, and scalable delivery.
  • Establish and monitor reliability and performance metrics such as SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.
  • Use data to drive decisions and continuously improve platform quality.
  • Manage quarterly planning and delivery for the squad and coordinate dependencies across teams.
  • Translate engineering priorities into a clear roadmap and escalate tradeoffs proactively when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud infrastructure or platform engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management experience leading cloud-based infrastructure teams.
  • Deep expertise with AWS and modern infrastructure tooling, including Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • Working familiarity with Istio, Postgres, and NATS.
  • Experience building and scaling reliable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud platforms.
  • Experience defining, managing, and improving SLOs and SLAs.
  • Experience driving incident response processes.
  • Strong people management skills, including hiring engineers and giving candid developmental feedback.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment in balancing engineering velocity with reliability and security.
  • Ability to work in a high-performing, mission-driven environment with intense urgency and strong individual accountability.

  • Target base salary range of $219,000 to $250,000.
