Description

  • Build, mentor, and grow high-performing distributed engineering teams that operate with autonomy and ownership.
  • Establish an environment that empowers engineers to innovate, take ownership, and make impactful technical decisions.
  • Lead design, development, and evolution of core data platform services including streaming/event ingestion, lakehouse infrastructure, and the Knowledge Platform.
  • Manage organizational data flows from hundreds of internal services, structured business and third-party applications, and 100K+ semi-structured Knowledge articles.
  • Ensure operational health, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of the data platform.
  • Drive data quality, schema governance, security, and compliance standards to support AI workflows, products, and business decisions.
  • Provide tools, APIs, and best practices to enable product-aligned teams to build data pipelines efficiently while following platform standards.
  • Own platform uptime, monitoring, incident response, proactive validation, alerting, and lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with product-aligned data engineering teams to ensure platform adoption, integration, and alignment with best practices, and shape cross-organizational architecture and standards.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in software or data engineering, with 4+ years leading distributed engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms, including streaming/event ingestion, lakehouse infrastructure, and knowledge/semi-structured data systems.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of distributed data processing, storage, and querying.
  • Proven experience in platform reliability, monitoring, incident management, and operational excellence.
  • Experience defining, enforcing, and monitoring schema governance, data quality, security, and compliance standards.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL and experience building tools/APIs for internal engineering teams.
  • Experience guiding high-level architectural decisions and design reviews for distributed systems.
  • Comfortable collaborating across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders in a remote-first, distributed environment with exceptional communication skills.
  • Nice to have: experience supporting AI/ML workloads; experience with data governance/catalog platforms (Atlan, Alation, Collibra); experience with internal developer platforms or engineering-facing APIs.
