Description

  • Architect and maintain Ava’s voice and workflow systems with a focus on uptime, latency, and reliability.
  • Design the internal delivery layer that lets the team configure, monitor, and optimize AI performance without adding engineering headcount.
  • Own the technical unit economics by balancing AI quality against cost per call within the $499/month pricing model.
  • Make high-stakes technical decisions that protect product integrity, user trust, and production readiness.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the technical lifecycle from initial code to live pilot outcomes.
  • Partner with the founder on roadmap decisions and cut features that threaten delivery speed or economics.
  • Build and lead a lean technical team with strong standards for code quality, logging, and audit trails.
  • Ensure AI outcomes are explainable, reviewable, and suitable for a trust-sensitive legal workflow.
  • Serve as the technical face of the company in fundraising and due diligence discussions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Direct experience with voice systems, conversational AI, or real-time AI workflows.
  • Experience deploying LLM-powered systems into production, not just prototypes.
  • Ability to architect and implement a path toward building and self-hosting custom models over time for legal and privacy needs.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering, human-in-the-loop systems, and edge-case management.
  • Experience building service-heavy or managed platforms, not just pure SaaS.
  • Comfort working closely with business leadership and owning delivery outcomes.
  • Experience in legal tech, healthcare, or other trust-sensitive verticals is a plus.
  • Experience running production systems with real-world users under time pressure is a plus.
  • Prior founder or early-stage leadership experience is a plus.
