Description

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable solutions for third-party systems and external developers.
  • Build and refine API interfaces and service communications for clarity, scalability, and adaptability.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical excellence across the backend stack.
  • Maintain and enhance existing solutions while proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and engineering from discovery through delivery.
  • Create efficient contracts and interfaces that support platform extensibility and scale.
  • Support external developers through clear documentation and well-designed developer tooling and frameworks.
  • Coach and mentor fellow engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in web application backend development with languages such as PHP, Java, Python, Go, or equivalent.
  • Eagerness to use PHP as the daily driver.
  • Deep understanding of API design, including RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Knowledge of networking and web application layer protocols.
  • Experience with relational database management systems and SQL, preferably MySQL.
  • Ability to build software end to end, with exposure to React and a solid understanding of the frontend.
  • Skilled in writing unit and integration tests, with strong error handling, logging, and observability practices.
  • Experience with contract and interface definition for maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and best practices for component composition, reusability, accessibility, maintainability, and performance.
  • Willingness to work remotely anywhere in Switzerland or on-site in St. Gallen, with flexibility to mix both.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment and openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
