Description

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s compliance program across legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as the Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer and act as the primary compliance contact for customers and internal teams.
  • Lead responses to customer compliance audits and manage resulting remediation efforts.
  • Advise internal teams on monitoring, escalation, and internal audit processes.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training on topics including HIPAA, fraud and abuse, and workplace harassment.
  • Partner with Human Resources and operations on multi-state employment law compliance and worker classification.
  • Review and manage privacy compliance for flows of PHI and PII.
  • Lead investigations and remediation for compliance or privacy breaches, including required notifications.
  • Monitor changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and internal operations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Report compliance risks and program updates to senior leadership and the board of directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, law, business, or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor or advanced compliance certification preferred but not required.
  • 7+ years of progressive professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and fraud and abuse laws.
  • Ability to learn quickly in areas where experience is limited.
  • Significant experience in cross-functional roles with internal and external stakeholders on complex projects.
  • Experience building compliance programs and conducting audits, risk assessments, and internal investigations.
  • Experience working with health plans is ideal.
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities with accuracy and thoroughness in a fast-paced environment.
