Description

  • Proactively explore and implement AI tools, LLM integrations, and MCP integrations to reduce database toil and improve incident response.
  • Optimize SQL Server and PostgreSQL performance at the server, database, and query levels.
  • Support the Snowflake data warehouse ecosystem, including performance optimization, application packaging, and testing.
  • Forecast capacity, identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize Snowflake credit usage, and right-size AWS infrastructure.
  • Automate data infrastructure using Terraform, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Manage containerized data services and stateful workloads in Kubernetes.
  • Maintain and optimize deployment pipelines using GitLab and Octopus Deploy for safe, repeatable schema changes.
  • Create runbooks, how-to guides, and architectural documentation to support developer self-service.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for SQL Server, Postgres, and Snowflake in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience maintaining and optimizing high-traffic production databases.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Expert knowledge of Snowflake.
  • Professional experience with Terraform, AWS, GitLab, and Octopus Deploy.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Docker and production experience with Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) and experience using LLMs for coding or system automation.
  • Expert-level Python and PowerShell skills.
  • Familiarity with C# and object-oriented programming.
  • Expertise tuning queries generated by ORMs such as Entity Framework and Dapper.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake packaging/testing and DynamoDB; familiarity with OpenSearch and Redis.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent direct work experience.
