Description

  • Lead the engineering team behind all of Payload.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to use Payload to accelerate Figma’s suite of offerings.
  • Engage with open-source community members, contributors, and enterprise customers to gather feedback and translate needs into engineering priorities.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to the team and collaborating groups to ensure cohesive product experiences and strong technical abstractions.
  • Lead, coach, and grow engineers through hiring, mentorship, performance management, and career development.
  • Partner with product and technical leaders at Payload to align priorities and support roadmap execution.
  • Balance the needs of the developer community with opportunities for seamless integrations across Figma’s products.
  • Shape technical investments that strengthen Payload as a leading content platform.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing software engineering teams within a technical product company.
  • Strong technical background building modern web applications and platforms using Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience building or leading teams responsible for developer platforms, application frameworks, or other highly extensible software systems.
  • Excellent product and technical judgment with experience shaping developer-facing APIs.
  • Experience collaborating closely with design teams to deliver intuitive user experiences.
  • Hands-on knowledge of CMS systems, particularly Payload and its ecosystem (preferred).
  • Track record of contributing to, maintaining, or leading open-source projects with community-driven product development (preferred).
  • Background in supporting enterprise customers and balancing large-organization needs with community priorities (preferred).
  • Comfort working with AI-assisted development workflows, agentic coding tools, or developer productivity platforms (preferred).
