Description

  • Review claims in real time for potential fraud or abuse and gather sufficient evidence to make decisions.
  • Evaluate customer behavior and incidents using internal and external data to assess customer risk.
  • Provide feedback to support and improve Extend’s risk models.
  • Perform fraud investigations and share insights on emerging fraud and abuse trends.
  • Follow regulatory and departmental procedures and escalate non-standard cases to a manager.
  • Collaborate with Claims, Product, and Engineering on ad hoc work to improve fraud detection models.
  • Attend regular meetings and training on Fraud Operations best practices.
  • Take ownership of investigations and make independent, evidence-based decisions.
  • Proactively complete additional tasks as needed to support team goals.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct fraud/abuse operations experience, preferably in an eCommerce environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of fraud concepts and prevention best practices.
  • Ability to perform due diligence investigations and make evidence-based determinations.
  • Ability to make independent decisions on customer risk scores and fraud/not fraud outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, information gathering, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to meet specified SLAs for claim reviews with strong time management and efficiency.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and office software such as Excel and Microsoft or Google Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to analyze internal and external data deeply.
  • Must be located within the continental United States.
  • Experience in retail or a high-growth startup environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data tools such as Snowflake is preferred.
  • Exposure to project management or CRM tools such as JIRA or Untangl is preferred.
