Description

  • Review claims in real time for potential fraud or abuse and determine whether there is sufficient evidence to support a decision.
  • Assess customer behavior and incidents using internal and external data to make independent risk score judgments.
  • Recommend claim approvals or denials based on investigation findings and evidence.
  • Perform fraud investigations and share insights on emerging fraud and abuse trends.
  • Follow regulatory and departmental procedures, document investigations, and escalate non-standard cases to a manager.
  • Collaborate with Claims, Product, and Engineering on ad hoc work to improve in-house fraud detection models.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions focused on Fraud Operations best practices.
  • Proactively take on additional tasks and contribute to both independent and team goals.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct Fraud/Abuse Operations experience, preferably in an eCommerce environment.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Pacific Time.
  • Candidates must be located within the continental United States; applicants residing in California are not eligible.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of fraud concepts and prevention best practices.
  • Ability to perform due diligence investigations and make evidence-based decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Experience making independent decisions regarding customer risk scores and claim determinations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, information gathering, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and office software such as Excel and Microsoft/Google Suite.
  • Attention to detail, comfort working with internal and external data, and the ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
  • Preferred experience in retail or a high-growth startup environment.
  • Preferred familiarity with SQL and data tools such as Snowflake.
  • Preferred exposure to project management or CRM tools such as JIRA or Untangl.
