Description

  • Design and implement components of the next-generation platform architecture.
  • Build new services and APIs that gradually replace or extend legacy functionality.
  • Apply modernization patterns such as Strangler Fig architecture, service extraction, API façade layers, and incremental data migration.
  • Introduce modern engineering practices, tooling, and infrastructure where appropriate.
  • Maintain and support existing production systems that the business depends on.
  • Implement targeted improvements and stability fixes while minimizing unnecessary disruption.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational risk and technical debt through modernization.
  • Improve observability, documentation, and operational reliability of legacy components.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and collaborate with platform, product, and infrastructure teams on incremental improvements.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Experience working with database platforms such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience building scalable microservices.
  • Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure tooling such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
  • Full-stack development experience with languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, or Scala.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Datadog.
  • Experience working with existing systems or mature codebases, not just greenfield development.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and system analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices such as version control, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to reason about system design, architecture trade-offs, and technical debt.
  • Guiding or mentoring junior engineers is preferred.
  • Experience with system modernization or platform evolution projects is preferred.
  • Experience integrating legacy applications with modern services or APIs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, or distributed systems is preferred.
  • Background in environments transitioning from monoliths to service-oriented architectures is preferred.
  • Some experience or familiarity with AI software development tools such as Codex, Kiro, or Speckit is preferred.
