Description

  • Review workplace injury, illness, fatality, and severe incident records for classification.
  • Apply standardized BLS Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS) codes to case records.
  • Draft brief, clear incident narratives that accurately summarize each case.
  • Use independent judgment to classify complex or ambiguous cases consistently and accurately.
  • Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate daily with analysts and senior staff for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvements for analytical workflows.
  • Support evolving analytical practices related to occupational safety and health data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, health/environmental science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and complete assignments on time.
  • Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as needed.
  • Experience with structured classification or coding systems such as OIICS, ICD, or similar is preferred.
  • Experience or coursework in data analysis or data management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAS, R, Power BI, Qlik, or other analytical tools is preferred.
  • Prior exposure to occupational health, injury or illness surveillance, or public health research is preferred.
  • Training for OIICS version 3.03 coding will be provided.

  • $58,000 - $70,000 annual salary.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Part-time or full-time schedule available, with a minimum of 20 hours per week for part-time roles.
