Description

Keep up to date with current college admissions changes and trends.
Work with 20-25 students, with scheduling flexibility based on availability and bandwidth.
Advise students on extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and meaningful summer plans.
Help students pursue internships, competitions, research opportunities, and community service options.
Create standardized testing plans and advise on test selection and score improvement strategies.
Build college lists and help students evaluate reach, target, and safety schools.
Provide end-to-end application support, including personal statements, activities lists, resumes, recommendation letters, and essay review.
Strategize early action, early decision, regular decision, waitlist, and college selection plans.
Discuss financial aid resources and merit scholarship opportunities.
Prepare for sessions in advance, communicate with students and parents, log sessions promptly, and attend monthly team meetings.

Requirements

Graduate from a top 50 national university; advanced degrees such as MD, PhD, MBA, JD, or a master's degree are a plus.
Experience as a college counselor for high school students with a track record of acceptances into top 50 national universities.
Availability in the afternoons after 3:00 p.m. and/or on weekends.
Passion for education, teaching, essay writing, and essay editing.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan around deadlines and meet them consistently.
Dedication to client service.
Ability to commit to students for multi-year packages.
Preferred: Former admissions officer at a top 50 college.
Preferred: Experience as an independent college counselor through NACAC, WACAC, IECA, or similar organizations.
