Description

  • Own and improve data-platform monitoring, alerting, and observability to surface pipeline and model failures early.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions by proposing improvements, documenting trade-offs, and helping determine what to build, refactor, or retire.
  • Define, document, and enforce engineering standards across the lakehouse, orchestration, warehouse, and reporting layers.
  • Promote code-review practices and engineering best practices across the Data domain.
  • Create guides, standards, and documentation, and lead knowledge-sharing activities to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain internal tooling, including AI-augmented workflows and extensions to observability and data-quality frameworks.
  • Support adoption of AI within data infrastructure in partnership with the wider technology organisation.
  • Develop and enhance Redshift warehouse models using dbt and Paradime.
  • Orchestrate pipeline execution and dependencies with MWAA and Paradime, and provision reproducible infrastructure using Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Contribute to ELT, containerized Python, and event-based ingestion pipelines into the S3, Glue, and Iceberg lakehouse.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data platform, data engineering, analytics engineering, or DataOps roles.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Understanding of database query execution, performance tuning, storage, access controls, and permission models.
  • dbt experience sufficient to review others’ work and define standards.
  • Working knowledge of AWS data services, including Redshift, S3, IAM, Athena, and Glue, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with lakehouse architectures such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or equivalent.
  • Experience with modern ingestion or ELT tooling such as Airbyte, Fivetran, or equivalent.
  • Exposure to infrastructure as code using Pulumi, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication; must be based in Portugal or Germany with workable European timezone overlap.
