Description

  • Write copy that motivates learners to keep up a daily learning habit.
  • Develop and refine the Duolingo voice across the app and related surfaces.
  • Write push notifications, emails, and other consumer copy.
  • Create and test new messaging angles and tones of voice.
  • Write in the voices of Duolingo characters, including Lily and Falstaff.
  • Partner with product designers and product managers on new product interactions informed by data and insights.
  • Focus on a limited number of projects at a time and drive them through completion.
  • Support experiments and share findings to increase product impact.
  • Collaborate with the localization team to ensure high-quality translations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in UX writing and consumer copywriting, including push notifications and emails.
  • A portfolio showcasing compelling UX writing examples for a consumer app.
  • Ability to express complex ideas in plain language.
  • Strong creative range and the ability to phrase the same idea multiple ways.
  • Ability to turn around revisions quickly.
  • Willingness to write full time on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or New York City.
  • Experience collaborating with translators (preferred).
  • Experience taking direction from senior writers (preferred).
  • Experience adapting to new tools and technology (preferred).
  • A Duolingo streak (preferred).
