Description

  • Drive the engineering vision, strategy, and execution for a 150+ person organization.
  • Set personalization strategy for the full consumer shopping journey and bring it into production.
  • Develop and scale machine learning solutions that improve consumer search relevance and discovery across DoorDash businesses.
  • Modernize recommendation systems using AI.
  • Grow, build, and nurture product engineering teams focused on business impact.
  • Mentor the organization on architectural patterns and long-term technical investments.
  • Work with vendors and evaluate tooling and platform decisions.
  • Partner with Business, Product, and Engineering teams to evolve DoorDash toward agentic commerce.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree.
  • 10+ years of industry experience developing machine learning models with business impact and shipping ML solutions to production.
  • Proficiency using AI coding tools such as Claude Code across the full software development lifecycle, including design, code generation, testing, monitoring, and release.
  • Proven ability to drive multi-quarter technical roadmaps as a technical lead with ownership of architectural decisions.
  • Deep expertise in deep learning and fine-tuning.
  • Hands-on experience optimizing LLM systems, including fine-tuning, advanced prompting strategies, and structuring JSON/tool-calling outputs.
  • Strong technical intuition with the ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Humility and a growth mindset, with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Experience leading through expertise rather than hierarchy, preferred for the role.
