Description

  • Develop and implement the organization’s payroll tax strategy and reporting function.
  • Review and submit federal, state, and local tax filings, returns, declarations, and extensions.
  • Prepare tax planning reports and estimate the organization’s tax obligations.
  • Partner with senior management to reduce tax liabilities and improve tax position strategies.
  • Monitor tax code changes and ensure ongoing compliance with payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Research legal and filing issues across local, federal, and international tax environments.
  • Oversee timely and accurate processing of liability payments, tax returns, notices, and reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain procedures that reduce payroll tax discrepancies and improve accuracy.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate Supervisors and staff, including performance reviews and employee development.
  • Resolve escalated client and internal payroll tax issues and maintain tax records through periodic audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of multi-state, multi-jurisdiction, high-volume payroll tax experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Supervisor or Manager experience.
  • Hands-on tax return processing experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and federal, state, and local wage laws.
  • CPP or FPC certification required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of payroll software systems.
  • Experience with tax filings and payments via e-file, magnetic media, EFT debit, and EFT credit.
  • MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.
  • PEO or related industry experience preferred.
