Description

  • Own the design, planning, estimation, testing, and coordination of multi-quarter team projects.
  • Define architecture and produce diagrams, technical proposals, and design documents for complex systems.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs across performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and engineering velocity.
  • Deliver complex systems on time and within budget while managing technical risk.
  • Debug and resolve the hardest software, infrastructure, and network-layer problems.
  • Own the team’s testing strategy and quality standards across the stack.
  • Coordinate with other teams on cross-cutting infrastructure, security, and network architecture issues.
  • Refine and improve the team’s practices for security, reliability, privacy, compliance, documentation, and shipping.
  • Lead projects with multiple contributors and drive stakeholder alignment from kickoff through release.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, technical guidance, documentation, and direct coaching.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proven track record of leading team projects involving multiple engineers.
  • Strong proficiency across multiple languages and paradigms, with the ability to pick up new languages as needed.
  • Comfortable using coding agents such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code in daily work.
  • Solid understanding of network architecture, including routing, switching, VPN protocols, DNS, and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, transit gateways, and private endpoints.
  • Experience with on-premises virtualization such as ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to own cross-team projects and navigate organizational complexity.
  • Experience producing architecture documents, technical proposals, and system designs for diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to set engineering standards and drive adoption across a team.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, including databases, caches, queues, event-driven architectures, and cloud infrastructure.
  • TypeScript and modern web development experience for full-stack candidates.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Go for backend candidates, with experience building production-grade APIs and services.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and cloud-native deployment patterns for DevOps candidates.
  • Deep experience designing and operating network infrastructure, VPN systems, or secure access platforms for networking candidates.
  • Strong judgment around security, reliability, privacy, and compliance in production systems, ideally in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or IEC 62443 is preferred.
