Description

  • Define and track OKRs with Product and Design to align engineering work with strategic goals.
  • Balance feature development, technical debt reduction, and system health improvements within an Agile process.
  • Guide technical discovery, review designs and architecture decisions, and contribute hands-on development when needed.
  • Mentor engineers through regular 1:1s, career development plans, and structured feedback.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, engagement, technical excellence, and collaboration.
  • Work closely with Product and Design to ensure technical feasibility and high-quality delivery.
  • Help define and implement engineering standards for consistency across teams.
  • Monitor engineering health metrics such as SLOs, error rates, cycle time, and operational costs.
  • Oversee incident response and post-mortems, including long-term fixes for recurring issues.
  • Improve development workflows, testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, and overall engineering efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading engineers in a high-growth or complex product environment.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers while building a strong engineering culture.
  • Deep understanding of scalable web applications, APIs, and distributed systems, ideally in a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of modern backend and frontend technologies, performance optimization, and architectural best practices.
  • Ability to make strategic trade-offs between feature delivery, technical debt, and operational improvements using a data-driven business case.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Design, and engineering teams to align on goals and manage dependencies.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, incident response, service reliability, SLOs, observability platforms, and cost optimization.
  • Knowledge of modern software development workflows, including CI/CD, testing strategies, and iterative process improvement.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres, or similar technologies, is a big plus.
  • Experience in a high-scale SaaS or cloud-based environment is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD and cloud infrastructure, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with observability tools, monitoring, and error tracking is preferred.
