Description

  • Own complex features end-to-end from specification through architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Build reliable and scalable Rails systems across models, services, background jobs, APIs, and front-end surfaces.
  • Write clean, maintainable code that teammates can read, extend, and trust.
  • Collaborate closely with product and design to clarify requirements, ask good questions, and challenge unclear specifications.
  • Use AI tools throughout the development workflow for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and documentation.
  • Identify meaningful technical debt, propose improvements, and follow through to improve the codebase.
  • Review code carefully, share knowledge, and help mentor and elevate teammates.
  • Drive work independently while flagging blockers early and taking strong ownership of shipped features.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of Rails conventions, ActiveRecord, background processing such as Sidekiq, and RESTful API design.
  • Strong instincts for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Experience with front-end technologies and the ability to build clean, functional UI, including comfort with JavaScript.
  • Active daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude.
  • Excellent written communication skills for PR descriptions and technical comments.
  • Comfort owning work independently and escalating blockers early.
  • Ability to live and work within a few time zones of Pacific Time in California.
  • Willingness to complete a Rails coding challenge during the interview process.
  • Nice to have: experience with financial, legal, or compliance-adjacent SaaS products.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with fund administration, venture capital, or investment management workflows.
  • Nice to have: experience with Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus, or modern Rails front-end patterns.
