Description

  • Own SDDC platform architecture, configuration standards, operational procedures, and engineering roadmaps.
  • Build, configure, optimize, patch, upgrade, and secure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, datastores, and distributed switches.
  • Engineer and troubleshoot vSAN storage clusters, policies, fault domains, performance, and compliance issues.
  • Design and manage NSX networking, routing, gateways, segmentation, and distributed security controls with network and cybersecurity teams.
  • Administer SRM protection groups and recovery plans; maintain automated failover and failback procedures and support quarterly COOP exercises.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code and platform automation using Terraform, Ansible, PowerCLI, APIs, version control, testing, rollback, secrets protection, and drift detection.
  • Monitor capacity, availability, performance, and compliance; recommend remediation, scaling, and balancing actions.
  • Provide Tier 4 incident support, isolate platform faults, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Apply DISA STIGs and security baselines, maintain configuration backups, and support RMF evidence and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support DISA-hosting migrations through discovery, readiness assessments, migration planning, cutover, validation, and post-migration stabilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience where permitted.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in virtualization, systems engineering, data-center infrastructure, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN, NSX, SRM, or comparable software-defined storage, network virtualization, and disaster-recovery technologies.
  • Experience developing or maintaining infrastructure automation and troubleshooting compute, storage, network, virtualization, and automation issues.
  • Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restoration, capacity management, and lifecycle practices.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Aria, PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, or REST APIs (preferred).
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD virtualization environments, DISA-hosting migrations, DISA STIGs, RMF controls, vulnerability remediation, or configuration compliance (preferred).
  • Preferred certifications include VMware, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Red Hat Ansible Automation, ITIL 4 Foundation, or relevant cloud, security, storage, or network credentials.
