Description

  • Define technical strategy across multiple AI initiatives and influence architectural and product decisions.
  • Design, build, train, evaluate, and improve machine learning and LLM-based systems for patient- and provider-facing products.
  • Own AI problems end to end, from problem scoping and dataset creation to production deployment and monitoring.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks using offline benchmarks, human review, and online experiments to validate safety and performance.
  • Build and improve data pipelines, training and inference infrastructure, prompt and model management, and reviewer tooling.
  • Partner with clinicians, product managers, and engineers to translate medical and operational needs into ML solutions.
  • Set technical direction for your area and mentor other engineers as the scope of leadership grows with seniority.
  • Stay current with the latest AI research and ecosystem developments and apply the most useful advances to the product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, or another related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, including 2+ years building and deploying machine learning systems and generative AI/LLMs.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping reliable, well-tested code in Python or a comparable language in production.
  • Practical understanding of modern LLM techniques, including prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
  • Comfort working with messy, real-world data and designing evaluations to determine whether a system is working.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across clinicians, product managers, and engineers.
  • Bias toward action and ownership in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Commitment to the mission of improving health outcomes for real patients.
  • Experience applying ML or LLMs in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated, high-stakes domain is preferred.
  • Experience with clinical NLP, medical knowledge representation, or electronic health record data is preferred.
  • Experience building agentic systems or tool-using LLMs in production is preferred.
  • Experience scaling ML infrastructure, including training pipelines, distributed inference, and evaluation platforms, is preferred.
  • Track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, or publishing influential work is preferred.
