Description

  • Evaluate current accounting, finance, and operations practices at private equity portfolio companies and recommend improvements.
  • Advise clients on inventory management strategies, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • Develop and operationalize US-GAAP-compliant inventory accounting policies, including capitalization thresholds, reserve methodology, and month-end close procedures.
  • Design, implement, and improve standard costing systems to assess product-level profitability.
  • Build frameworks for budgeting, cost control, variance analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio company leaders and private equity sponsors.
  • Collaborate with CrossCountry team members to scope engagements and deliver client service.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of firm-approved AI-enabled client solutions and internal processes.
  • Cultivate new client relationships and deepen existing client relationships.
  • Mentor junior team members, provide feedback, complete performance reviews, and help resolve complex project issues.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in plant controllership and/or FP&A, preferably in a private equity-backed environment.
  • Experience in operations analysis and cost accounting, including standard costing, activity-based costing, and variance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of controllership responsibilities in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
  • Experience driving performance improvements across manufacturing and distribution operations.
  • Experience working with controller and accounting teams and understanding key income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Proven success building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing, such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Comfort exploring and adopting firm-approved AI tools to improve productivity and innovation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, or SQL is a plus.
  • Client services experience in audit, advisory, or management consulting is a plus.
