Description

Lead all engineers, including hiring, technical screening, performance management, career development, and exits.
Set and enforce engineering standards for AI usage, architecture, code review, testing, security, infrastructure, tools, and client delivery.
Own staffing and assignment decisions across client accounts, including bench management and utilization.
Serve as the senior technical contact for clients, advising on architecture and providing technical second opinions.
Define and execute the engineering hiring plan for near-term and long-term organizational needs.
Coach engineers through training, workshops, mentoring, and teaching-oriented code reviews.
Communicate technical decisions and standards to clients, engineers, and leadership.
Assess accounts, engineers, and delivery risks during the first 30 days and identify quality improvements.
Implement AI engineering standards and lead training and workshops within the first 60 days.

Requirements

8+ years of experience building software.
3+ years of directly leading engineers.
Experience managing engineering across multiple simultaneous client engagements, or leading an in-house organization with an understanding of services work.
Continued hands-on technical involvement, including reading and reviewing code.
Experience hiring engineers and managing performance, including terminating an employee when necessary.
Ability to challenge incorrect designs directly with clients while maintaining trust.
Strong presence and communication skills, including leading rooms, teaching workshops, and handling client disagreement.
Daily practical use of coding agents, with informed views on their limitations, governance, and security risks.
Strong written communication skills for distributed teams and US-based clients.
Experience leading distributed or offshore teams (preferred).
Experience with complex data and integration work involving ERPs, unstable APIs, or restricted database access (preferred).
Experience transitioning a services business toward product ownership (preferred).
