Description

  • Research, analyse, and translate system needs into clear, efficient code that matches technical specifications.
  • Refactor and optimise existing codebases to improve code quality, program logic, and long-term maintainability.
  • Prioritise security across the full stack and identify or neutralise vulnerabilities in request handling and database interactions.
  • Assess project scope and technical complexity to provide accurate time estimates and resource requirements.
  • Lead new feature releases into production and monitor system usage and performance for bugs or bottlenecks.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, updates, and ad-hoc support for existing software applications.
  • Collaborate with US and Australian research and support teams on platform-related technical work.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of corporate experience with Vue.js, JavaScript (jQuery), HTML5, and CSS.
  • Ability to set up and configure Apache, PHP, and MySQL environments.
  • Proficiency in PHP 7.x (OOP) with at least one backend framework such as Laravel.
  • Proficient in version control using Git and GitHub.
  • Experience in MySQL database design and optimisation is preferred.
  • UI development experience using Bootstrap is preferred.
  • Knowledge of API integration, such as AWS or Google Cloud, is preferred.
  • Understanding of the HTTP(S) protocol is preferred.
  • Must currently reside in Canterbury and be eligible to work in New Zealand.

Benefits

  • Permanent full-time role with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Salary range of NZD $100,000 to $140,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Remote work arrangement based in the New Zealand time zone.
